How do you make money from an email list of customers, fast?
In short – with offers.
The offers can be yours, for your business, or they can be other businesses offers, where you are paid a commission from any sales made as a result of your promotion.
For your own business, you could offer a 2 for 1 deal, you could offer a bonus with a purchase or simply a free offer to rekindle the buyer’s interest back into your business or services.
If you sell something for another business online, you simply have to get an “affiliate link” set up in your name. You have to check the business you want to promote has an affiliate program, otherwise, it will be very hard to manage any sales made from your leads. An affiliate commission is like a normal sales commission for selling a product. It is very commonplace online, often bloggers use this technique to monetise their blog.
A good example is if you promote a internet hosting company (most of them have standard affiliate programs) and you promote that affiliate link to your email list – for example: “It is with excitement that we see XXX Hosting is offering a special price on their annual hosting fees if you click on THIS LINK” and on the words THIS LINK you add your affiliate link to the offer. It is that simple. Most companies pay affiliate commissions after a minimum amount of $$ is made (eg. $50 in commissions) or sometimes it is for a minimum of orders.
If you have a business where you want to earn a commission on physical products, then you would consider the Amazon affiliate program.
Affiliate commissions have their benefits, as do your own promotions – pros and cons for both you could say!
I think you should always offer your own products and services in emails, however, this can become boring for an email subscriber. So keep in mind the reader of your email and what would please them. Maybe you could say if they buy through your affiliate link you will provide them with one of your products as a thank you gift. Then everyone is a winner.
